Fuel starvation
Fuel starvation
So I have a 85 camaro sc 305 4bl cccqjet so basically I’ve got timing close enough to where ot should start I really wasn’t worried about fuel until now I sprayed sf and it would back fire like twice then just crank I checked the primary’s and they were bone dry the car has gas but I really don’t want to go straight to fuel pump I’ve heard that there are fuel pump relays and fuel pump fuses I want to replace first and see if that fixes it another reason I really don’t think it’s the fuel pump is because first of all I drove it a month ago and when I checked the tank out it looks brand new not stock so I think someone dropped the tank at some point so I’m thinking why would somebody drop the whole tank and replace it just to keep the old fuel pump so does any one know where these fuses /relays are?

Did you remove the Original Mechanical Fuel Pump from the Right-Side of the Engine?

Re: Fuel starvation
Is there in fact an electric pump in the tank?
Most (I would say "all", but all it would take to turn me into a liar is ONE that's different, so I'll just stick with "most") 85 carbed cars came with ONLY the mech pump.
That said, if your car even has a mech pump, whether or not there's an electric as well, just change it out. Yeah I know. None of us are fans of just busting out the ole parts cannon and blasting away at our cars. But OTOH, a new FP is like $25, if that; and is a well and widely known maintenance item, like brake shoes or radiator hoses. They have a limited lifetime.
You've been posting all this crap about this fuel problem now for like MONTHS. You've probably ALREADY spent as much on utilities running your computer generating these posts, as the cost of a new FP. It takes about 20 minutes to change one of those in one of these cars, if you're slow like me; you're probably faster, so it's even less painful.
Just do it already, and put it in your rearview mirror.
