Whistle/whining noise 1406 edlebrock
Hello, so I have noticed this noise coming from my car when I sharply blip the throttle or rev it. I am almost certain that the noise is coming from the carburetor or maybe something else near it, but if I had to guess it would be the carb. I have done a little bit of research using chat gpt and it seems pretty helpful but I can’t fully get to the bottom of it. It only happens when the rpm are rising and not falling and I'm told this means it is likely not a vacuum leak, i cannot hear the noise when holding a steady high rpm. So the noise is solely when the throttle is snapped. The noise is also still present after the car is fully warmed up so I'm sure that plays a part in figuring it out.
I was also told that this could very possibly be that the throttle plates are not adjusted properly and that the choke plates are loose. However the noise was not always there so i feel like it wouldn’t be that, although it could loosen over time so maybe. It also said that the primary bores may have carbon build up and this could be causing the whistling noise.
If anyone has any experience with this sort of thing a little help would be very appreciated. I was also told that old Edlebrocks have a tendency to have a whistling noise. I attached a video and hopefully it will help to hear the noise. If theres any trouble hearing it I would happily go and try to film another video from a different spot. Again any help would be appreciated and thank you in advance, I know someone here will have my answer.😁

put a rag around the carburetor.
be be safe about it double check things so you dont get a stuck throttle or catch fire.
but if you enclose the carb and cant hear the noise anymore, volia' you identified where the noise is coming from.
pretty simple couple minute job to isolate the noise.

Or, I'll give you my FAVORITE piece of advice I like to give to people, which is, to take a piece of heater hose, and STICK IT IN YOUR EAR!, and probe around the carb, and see where it's coming from. Obviously be careful where you stick the other end, avoid fans and such, and anything that can get shot up in there and fly into your ear.
bk2, I noticed you tried to type "voilà". Here's how, if you're on a Windows PC: hold down the Alt key, and on the num pad with it set to Num Lock - GOTTA BE the num pad, the 1 - 0 across the top won't work - type 0224 and let go of Alt. You'll get an à. You can get all manner of cool things that way, by typing different numbers. For example 0189 gives you ½, 0177 is ±, 0233 is é, 0161 is ¡ while 0191 is ¿, 0176 is °, and so on. You can even get ÷ with 0247, or a thorn þ (that's the ancient letter we don't use anymore that makes the "th" sound like in "that"; the "th" in its name is pronounced with that sound, unlike the thing on a rosebush that makes you bleed) with 0254.
Best thing about this is, it's an operating system function, not a browser one; that means you can use it in ANY browser, or Excel, or AutoCAD, or whatever.

Just altogether too much fun.

Notice that there are 32 of them in there that you can't even get to with Character Map. Including the Euro currency one, the "proper" quotes, and the longer dashes. Back in the Word for Windows 1.0 and Excel 1.1 days (1992-ish), we were all writing macros to insert those into documents, because there was no other way.

So i did this, and it seemed like a good idea but for the wrong problem the towel was definitely blocking everything around the carb. But the noise was still there. Any other ideas? Thank you though!
