Tbi to car regulator question

I was wondering from anyone who has done this if it is possible to run a two port regulator and tee off the line at or after the regulator. I ask this because two port regulator are MUCH more inexpensive and until I find the need to change the pump I am not going to worry about it. I have a friend of mine who did a tpi to carb swap on his 87 corvette and this is what he did. He did it at least two years ago and hasn't had any problems with it yet!

Anyone else got an opinion on this

Run the Mallory three port regulator(#4309) from summit or jeg's,$75.Run the feed line in and out to the carb, then run your stock return line to the bypass port on the regulator(bottom port),this is what most TBI to carb swappers have been doing.I am running this regulator on my carb'd Z,but it was always a carb car,I just prefer to run a return line to keep the fuel from dead heading at the carb and heating up.
