What am I going to need? (2nd Try)
What am I going to need? (2nd Try)
I need to know what it is that I'm going to need to have when converting from my current Computer Controled 4bbl Quadrajet, to a Non Computer Controlled Carburator. I know that switching from a Computer Controlled Carburator to a Non Computer Controlled Carburator will make my 700R4 Tansmission's Tourqe converter fail to initialize, as well as make trouble for my cars Throttle. So, basicly what I'm asking is, what are all of the gizmo's, gadgets and wiring harnesses that I'm going to need to buy, so that I can convert over to a Non Computer Controlled Carburator. I also need to know what I will need if I remove my EGR and other Emissions.
Some stuff I needed to know, also want to include the info in a FAQ that I'm writing.
ThanX Guys!

Well, first you need to decide what type of carb you are going to use. You'll need a non-CC distributor. That'll get you're motor running. For the trans, use the B&M non-CC 700R4 TC-lockup kit in Summit. They're like $80, and not too bad to install.

Unless you get a spread-bore type carb, most aftermarket carbs won't bolt to the stock intake manifold (or the throttle butterflys will hit something). So, you also need an adapter or another intake manifold to be able to use a square-bore type carb.

What they said about the carb&dis. The 700r4 will still work and you probably wont even notice a difference. The tricky part is figuring where all the lines are you need to still have on there. All of the lines in the front of the manifold on the thremosate housing can be removed. I would just put the new carb and dis on and work from the smog pump back. The vapor canister can be removed and if you have a hose up to the carb just plug it at the carb. The only lines you will need are cruise control I for got how many I think 2. Climate controll should be just one and thats taken from the back of the manifold. And the carb should have the PCV, the vac advance and power brake booster for 3 total.
Good Luck.

just remembered the charcole canister should run into a big T connector and the PCV is split off of that. Just unplug that T and plug a PCV into a single hose, you should have plenty extra
and that little black turd canister thats in the middle of the engine either connected to the AC or alt cab be dumped also.
AHHHHHH Its confusing.

Personally, I think a frontal lobotomy is helpful in this process as well. Will make you more content with the results and the money you spent to get there...
