I'm planning to convert from TBI to a 625 cfm Road Demon.

I don't have the money to do it all at once. I want to do it in stages. Can I install a vaccum advance HEI and still utilize my stock ECM controlled TBI fuel delivery system until I can complete the conversion.

I am not sure about using your ECM after you remove that distributor but i did a conversion like this 2 yrs ago only i went to carb all at once.

87 & later FI heads: there are only a few manifolds that will bolt up to those heads to convert it to carb UNLESS you get an older manifold & have the 2 bolts in the centers on each side of the manifold drilled. This usually causes an oil leak so i suggest you buy the correct manifold.

You obviously know you need an regualer HEI distributor so that's ok.

As far as carb i would go with either a 600 or 650.

 

Your only choice is to put it on all at once. So, save up and buy the pieces, when they're all together, put them all on.
