i have the stock Q-jet carb on my 86 iroc. its a 305. i also have a edelbrock 750vcm. performer carb that cam with the camaro when i first bought it but was dumping to much gas and caused it to flood. i just recentlly bought a new 270H comp cam and headers well the 305 handle the 750? and if it well which would be the better one? stock or edelbrock? i"m not to worried about gasmillage!!! i need more power. I'm not forsure what vcm the stock Q-jet is but i'm guess from 500-650vcm.

Your cc-Qjet is an 800 CFM carb that is restircted down to about 650 CFM by not allowing the secondary air valve to open a full ~90*. File down the secondary air valve stop or replace the air valve shaft with one from a QJet that does open fully and you'll get full flow out of it.
With or without the mod the QJet will work fine on your 305, assuming you use an appropriate set of secondary rods in it (DRs are my go-to rods for most moderate performance applications). it sounds like too much carb but it will work jsut fine if tuned a little.
