Missing secondary linkage rod...help please!
ok, so I put some headers and a complete exhaust on my 85 LG4. I take it for a test ride and it misses like crazy when I romp on it. So, I took it to my buddy who is a mechanic and told him to look at it. He said that my secondary linkage rod on the passenger side of the carb was gone. He also says that is why I am getting a bog followed by miss firing when i get on it. So I am writing to ask:
1.) can anyone relate to this problem?
2.) does anyone have an LG4 or L69 carb that would be willing to part with their secondary linkage rod? (for a price of course)

Just go to a junkyard and pull one off, and get some extra rods and hangers while your at it. Most Q-Jets parts are the same.

Sounds like you're talking about the rod to the choke pull-off. You can live without it, and perhaps you didn't have a problem until you improved your engine's breathing with the headers.
Tighten up the secondary AV tension a bit at a time, test driving between adjustments, until the bog/misfiring goes away. Without the rod, you're putting the control of the AV purely on the spring tension, instead of being dependant upon the release rate of the pull-off. That isn't all bad.
