please some one help

I have a 1984 camaro. I do not know what kind of carb. is on it. I know the engine is a v8 if that helps. It starts right up but the whole car shakes and it back fires through the tail pipe. The oil light comes on when it back fires. Also the carb. Looks like it is computer controlled. I really need help. This is my first carbureted car so some one please help.
Thanks a bunch

If it is stock, it is a computer-controlled Quadrajet. Have you given the car a tune-up reciently?

WOW. Plenty of things to look for. I wouldn't be surprised if the previous owner was messing around with the carb and overtorqued it like a gorilla when he put it back together. Can you see evidence of flooding? A warped airhorn will allow gas to mess up the TPS and cause more problems. If your CHECK ENGINE light isn't on, I'll wager the light was pulled out! The usual suspects--bad plugs, wires, cap, rotor, etc. are possible but a healthy ECM and fuel system can compensate for them well enough.

The OIL light comes on??? Some beer must've made it's way out of the gas tank and into the engine! If you can give us some more info, that would help!
