Best Hangers and Rods for Q-jet
Scroungin' for Q-Jets is getting really tough but here goes.
I'd use a Q-Jet that has a model number like 702xxxx to 704xxxx.
Those are carbs from late 60's to 1975. After that, the carb were numbered as 1705xxxx. The 1705xxxx models are pure smoggers and good primary rods (narrow taper) are hard to find but I thing Edelbrock may have something to offer. If you get one of the good older pre-1976 carbs, I'd start with # 69 jets and #38 - 40 primary metering rods. Those are single taper rods BTW. The double taper rods can go a tad leaner, up to 41b - 42b for fuel economy and still be rich when you floor it. A good rule of thumb for primary rods is for the jet number to be roughly 30 more than the metering rod number.
The seconday rods won't matter as much because those LG4 heads just don't breathe. I've used CC,CV, DD (super lean!), DL, and some really rich rod that made more smoke than power (can't find the dumb things!). The garden variety I, J, and K hangers seem to do O.K. I went back to the lean CV to keep the smoke to a minimum. The DL was a good rod too.

I've used AH secondary metering rods with a G hanger and currently DR rods with a B hanger. Both improvements, in my opinion, over stock.

You can't go by the SOTP (seat of the pants) dyno. It may sound meaner when you are running super rich... but it's not necessarily performing better.
If anyone knows good rod/jet/hanger combos for mild 350's let me know.
