Hey all. I onw a 1986 IROC Camaro, 305 TPI. sick of the ECU computer bull§hit already.

What would i need to do to get rid of my ECU entirely? Would i just need a new intake manifold, and a carb? or is it much more complicated than that?

Dude! I recently did a tpi to carb swap on my 85 trans am. I had to get a intake, carb., and a noncomperized hei distributor. It came off a 81 chevy truck. Then I got a Mallory fuel pressure regalatir to bring my fuel press down. I unhooked my computer and took it out completly.

 

Woah, that doesn't sound so bad. i would like to ditch the o2 sensor, the MAF, and all the rest of the ECU stuff on my car. causes NOTHING but problems. i know FI has better economy, and torque then carbs do normally, but so what. hehe.

Cool! so does you car also have the th700R4 transmission? im just not sure if it is comptuer controlled or not. if you took yours out, with no problems, sounds good!

Cristos, The Swap itself is relatively Simple.

New intake, New carb, New Vaccum advanced HEI dist, and AFPR.

the Disadvantages are you have to use one of the aftermarket TCC lockup devices if you want to maintain TCC lockup, and You will never pass emissions. as I know you live in the Golden state with Us, this Is not a practicle Route for you
