what do you guys think of the product and what gain could i get if i made my own system with a ho air cleaner

If you make your own and make it right, there is no reason you can't gain 6 - 8% in power from it.

relocate your battery if necessary.
run a single smoothe 4" tube from your filter box down one side (driver or passenger) of the engine bay.
Cut out the metal wall beside your radiator (right behind your headlights) to run the tube through.
Mount the pickup in front of the airdamn where there is highest pressure. You may want to pull the radiator so you can reposition your airdamn at a slight angle towards the pickup.
Insulate your air-feed tube from conduction & radiant heat by using layers of fiberglass & reflective stainless tape. Also insulate your air-filter box. The whole system should be well sealed, so you will need a thick rubber gasket between your airfilter housing and carb. Tapping the carb for a bigger aircleaner stud will help seal it.

for the money PVC tubing is good. It is smoothe inside and is a good insulator.
