Burning Oil
I have an 1982 Z28 Camaro and It seems to be burning oil. When My car gets to around 230 the oil pressure goes down and My car seems to smoke non-stop. So could it be that I need to change oil weight. I have straigh 40W in it now I thought maybe I should go thicker. Maybe like 20W-50? Please Give me info or anything else you may think is wrong

Not sure why you put this on the carb board, other than your car having a carb; but, sounds like your engine is worn out. A thorough overhaul will cure it.
Are you saying your coolant temp gets up to 230 and stays there? That's a sure path to an early grave.

It is a new engine but It is broken in because when I first got it it wasn't burning any oil then all of a sudden.. it started. It seems that my oil gets thin and my oil pressure goes down. My car does just stay at 230 I live in the desert it goes up and goes down

Hey Camaro 82 I am from around El Paso ,Tx to. Who did your rebuild? Maybe I know the place or individual. What color smoke is coming from exhaust?White would be vaper(moisture),blue would be oil and black would be fuel. It could be a blown head gasket.

By the way 230 is too high a temperature. I am only getting to 195 degrees. At idle it might go up to 210 but as soon as I start moving it goes back down to 195.

It is bluish white but It smells like gas sometimes and oil othertimes so.. We have a Car club for Thirdgen Camaros and Firebirds . I
Am getting tired of my car smoking maybe I just need to change the oil weight because my car can be warm sometimes and it won't burn.

Oil weight won't fix anything. 230 is a bit warm. Is your pcv system working? How much oil is it burning. 1 quart in 500 miles or something?
