Fuel pressures?????

Sorry I know this has been beat to death, but i already did a search and cant quite find what im looking for.

I have a 350 with an edelbrock 1407 carb with a mallory fuel pressure regulator. It was switched over from TBI. Everyone says that the idle psi is 5.5-6 and not to drop below 5 under WOT. Well mine at idle is 4psi and it jumps between 7-10 under WOT. When i adjust it nothing happens to the idle pressure, but when i go to WOT it keeps changing as i adjust the Fuel pressure regulator.

My main problem is that when i go to WOT it falls on it bogs down and i have been playing with springs and rods a little, but have had no luck. It seems to rev fine while not in gear. Also after driving somewhere sometimes it wont start with the air cleaner in place, i'll take it off and it will fire right up??

Thanks for any help!!!

I have the exact same setup on my car. My pressure is stable. But it wasnt the first time I hooked it up because I hooked it up wrong. Are sure the bottom port is hooked up to the return line to the tank ? I'd set it around 7-8 PSI at idle and see how that works. IF the pressure stilll goes up I'd say you have a bad regulator.

Thanks for your reply, but when i try to adjust it at idle, the gauge doesnt show any change...but when i adjust it and then snap it to WOT the press at WOT changes with the adjustment....I guess I'll have to check all the fuel lines and everything, i wasnt the one who set it up, i just bought the car this month already done.

Sounds like it is hooked up wrong. Check all the lines and make sure they're connected like they're supposed to.
