5th gear question for the carb?

how high can u guys get ur rpms in 5th gear with a 350? i can only do like 3k and my friend can do like 4k rpms. also i have a q-jet. how can i make my rpms higher in 5th gear. i mash it as much as i can in 5th gear and all i can do is 3000 rpms in 5th gear so can you guys give me so advice on how to get more rpms in 5th gear thanx alot.

The problem isn't the carb, or anything to do with it really. It takes power to move a car at those speeds, and you just don't have the power to go any faster. It also depends greatly on effective gear ratio.

I'm moving this to general tech.
