i just got my engine put in its an 86 305 put it in my 83 Z28 anyway when i hit the gas peddel and let go the rpms are still way up she keeps going someting is sticking or something in the carb i got carb cleaner never worked can anyone help?

 

is it the factory Quadrajet? IF so this happened in my friends 82Z the throttle was sticking. I convinced my friend to go and swap the carb for an aftermarket one along with the intake and dist. You can get yours rebuilt (sensible if you have topass strict emission laws) or just go the aftermarket route. But remember if you go aftermarket carb you are going to have to get a vacuum advance dist.

First try checking out the throttle return spring to make sure it isn't totally worn out. later man
