Re: Bought parts from tom1985 junior member
Bought y pipe and headers from tom 1985 his ad said it would fit a 1986 camaro. I brought it home it dose not fit, it is for an 85 camaro only. I called him and asked for my money back, and he refused to give me back my money. Can the forum ban them from using this site until he makes it correct or any body who miss leads you?
Thanks Jim
Thanks Jim
the ad states 82-86 your info says you have an 87, is this the car you are trying to install on?

Re: Bought parts from tom1985 junior member
what exactly does not fit?
the info for 82-86 i believe is in reference to head style, as 87+ that was changed
what is different about the 85 y-pipe vs' the 86-87 pipe?
the only difference in y-pipes i have ever heard of were single vs. dual cat, i've also never delt with a pre 87 thirdgen either

Re: Bought parts from tom1985 junior member
I'm not seeing how this could have been the sellers fault,
He advertises fitting 82-86
You specifically ask if it will fit 86 instead of asking about 87
He gives the only logical answer being yes(part number states it will fit 86 and older)
Depending on options these cars came stock with varying sizes of exhaust through the years(even within the same year)
sometimes even an exhaust system will pinpoint which motor it was designed for(pipe sizing) to make sure if matches the stock exhaust
But honestly the seller did nothing wrong as he answered your question correctly , if you are unhappy the only real option I see is reselling the headers to someone who can use them

Re:
from 82-86, meaning the LG4 as it is the only motor that was an option in each year(and was not dropped)
im assuming your car is TPI which you are correct would have had the same y pipe as the 86 TPI cars, but its not the same for the 86 LG4 cars(which i am near certain this Y pipe is for)
request a part number when you are ready to buy used next time, double and triple check on your end that it will work, you cant always trust the seller of a used item to know whether a specific item will fit your car, they can only go off what the box said or what they used it on
