Re: Convertibles
Trans Am convertibles are rare, you'll find many more Corvette convertibles. I have studied the ratio and found that 15 to 1 is about standard (Vette to TA Convs). These cars are not kept up as well as Vettes and are drag raced much more. Guess what happens to supply? When a car ages, rarity drives price. When these cars hit the 20-30 yr. mark price escalation occurs. These are simply too rare and popular not to escalate. Extraordinary pieces will lead the way as always. I'm not surprised you don't see many, I looked in the Charlotte Observer today under Pontiac and Antique Autos. Zero.

The price really goes up if you have an all stock car.

Re: Your Convertibles
My newest car and "toy" is a 1991 RS convertible. It is a bone-stock, 115,000 mile AZ car, needs some cosmetics, but has strong running 305 TBI and automatic. I am building a 2nd gen 1981 Berlinetta that will replace this as daily driver so I can restore this one next

Re: Your Convertibles
I am thrilled with the vert that my son & I are enjoying together. It is a 1990 RS with the 305. It only has 57k miles on it and it is all original. Probably going to need a paint job in the near future, but not bad for the age of the car.

Re: Your Convertibles
Trying to figure this thread thing out...I was actually asking about the blue vert posted just before my white vert. Was the blue vert purchased in the East Valley of Phoenix?

I have a 92 purple convetible, 5 speed. I wanted to replace the burned out lights in the third brake light on the trunk, but can't find the bulbs anywhere. Also, where is the best place to get new tops at the best price?

Re: Your Convertibles
I've heard some issues with those over heating the housings and melting them on some camaros (since the 3rd brake light is the same as a 'maro) I think it was Mr_dude1 that had the issue. However, there are TONS of people running those halogen bulbs with supposedly no problems. If you're not going to run the '891' bulb which should be at any parts store then I'd use LEDs.

1991 Camaro Vert. 305, TBI, 700R4 Trans, ALL stock under hood. orginal engine, trans, never been rebuilt. 156k miles on her. runs good.
Hi everyone. MY first post on TGO. I picked up this vert about a month ago. this is my third 3rd gen.. i had a Recaro T/A, and a 88 RS before this one. I finly found this after about 8 years of wating and searching. It was incredibly cheep considering the condtion of it. The pait in a "cheep" paint job but its for the most part decent. It came stock one color the previous owner had the black added. It has hail damage on the front hood and i have a new hood for it just not painted yet. Over all its pretty good runing car. i'v made very few minor repairs with some local TGO friends i've made. and she runs great now. had some suspension issues. fixed em up. good tune up and she's now my daily driver for a while. I'll be putting her down for new motor/trans change to manual, and paint and new hood. then i'm gonna swap the gray cloth interior to black adn dark red leather. Here's some pics of it. as it is

From a relatively new contributor, welcome and congratulations on your vert. Nice ride! Facinated by the black effects - I've never seen that done before.

Re: Your Convertibles
This is my 89 Vert, it was given to me by a friend of my fathers and is in dire need of some interior lovin, but for a free vert, who's complaining?
The Convertible system was a little haywire so the hatch wouldn't close at first. Fixed now.
Interior.
A nice side shot.
It needs plenty of TLC but it's my baby and I'll give her what she needs.

Re: Your Convertibles
I've done some searches on hood blisters and this thread talks about them a little. Mines an '89 Iroc vert with the blisters. Just wondering if that was stock or which cars came with the blisters, do they mean anything like it's a Z or just an option?? Hopefully I can ask this here...

The louvers & blisters were only on the IROC & the Z28s.
& just for factural information this is a louver
These are blisters (these are aftermarket & will not fit the iroc hoods.)

Re: Your Convertibles
Finally found one of my own! Been looking for awhile and found this one east of Dallas, TX. Its an '87 Iroc Z (sixth digit is a 3). 305 auto, Charcoal Grey interior, very clean. Power everything but antenna. Car was in same family for 20 years! Wish it had the tpi/5 speed drivetrain but was to nice to pass up!

Nice ride! Get you some RS emblems and you'll have an even nicer ride. I hate to see a nice RS tagged up with fake IROC symbols.

Re: Your Convertibles
Here's my convertible. I bought it for $2000 about 4 years ago and was using it as a daily driver doing an 80 mile round trip every day. Last December it was retired to a weekend driver, repainted and new weather seals fitted including window sweeps. Put on a new GM front end including fenders and a hood from a 92 Z28. Has TPI fitted and I have a 98 LS1 posi rear and LS1 front brakes yet to fit.

Re: Your Convertibles
You need the bracket on the bottom of the stock vert fenders because the ASC "subframe connectors" go right where the bottom bolt is on the original fender. You can look for but it sounds like you'll have to make something. Basically just an L-bracket so you can bolt the bottom of the fender to the door.

That looks familiar. Although you seem to have quite a bit nicer paint than I do!
Did you put the Euro mirrors on or did you get it that way?
