There were several companies that offered conversions on Camaros as early as 1983. Autoforms is but one of them. Almost all of these companies' conversions eliminated the rear seat and yes, the tops on these cars were hideous.
Is this car rare? Probably. But it is NOT a factory convertible so desirability is the issue, not rarity. What's it worth? There is no book value. It's definitely a gray area -- the market will dictate this.
The simulated woodgrain applique is aftermarket and like the convertible conversion, several companies make their own. One is still available thru Classic Industries and is offered in different wood grains. The one in this car is one of the "cheaper" kits. The woodgrain does not encircle the power window/hatch release buttons as does the nicer kits. It appears the applique on the stereo/heater is made of three pieces instead of one and is lacking the horizontal piece across the top of the heater controls. The better kit's part is one solid piece.

Yeah, that's definately an AutoForm... Funny that I'm seeing more and more of these popping up on the board recently...Up until now, I had only really seen three others like mine!
If you want more info, I can tell ya what I know...It's not much, but I do have first hand experience with 'em.
