odd 88 vert
I was eating lunch today, looked out the window and there's an IROC vert sitting across the street for sale. Personally I don't like verts but I figured I'd check it out to see what the guy wanted.
First glance, its an '88... has the 15" Z28/RS wheels, no TPI decals but the VIN 8'th digit was "F", indicating TPI. 5 Speed also which was cool.
I asked the owner (inside the store) what they wanted it to my astonishment, they said $5000. For that price, they can keep it! The thing was not mint, but had potential.
My question is, were there a lot of IROCZ verts that only had the 15" Z28/RS wheels and no TPI logos (when it does have TPI).

In 1988, when the Iroc z became its own model and the Z28 went away,GM in its ultimate wisdom made the 15"z28 wheels the standard wheels for the IROC Z(the car that was supposed to be the "ultimate" handling Camaro). I believe in '89 the standard rims were the 15" versions of the double stripped 88-90 16" Iroc Z wheels. To me GM should not have done this, if you are going to market a car as the best handling then you should'nt offer it with smaller wheels and tires. The lack of badging could of been due to a repaint, not sure if these were only put on cars with the 16" rims?

I knew about the 88+ 15" rim thing, no biggy there... from a distance, most would say (in the 3rdgen realm anyway) that it was an LO3 vert... wierd.
