Convertible Registry
I was just curious if there was a registry for 3rd gen Camaro convertibles?
I would be interested in finding out how many people here have convertibles; their years; RS or Z's; and their options and colors.
I am sure alot of these cars have been destroyed. Parted out and wrecked. So the survivors must number quite a bit lower than the original factory tally.
So, I will list my car:
1992 Camaro RS convertible (25th Anniversary)
305 TBI with Automatic
Arctic White exterior with Black convertible top
Flame Red Leather interior
Let's hear what you have! (I would post a picture, but it always says my images are too large to load. I am not sure how to downsize the image to make it acceptable to this server.....)

1991 Camaro Z28
305 TPI Automatic
Arctic white with black leather interior and a black top
Lots of plans for the car, so little money...

Of course the Firebird verts are even more rare. In addition, there is a registry of sorts for the verts already on this forum.

I actually thought about putting a convertible registry on my soon-to-be up-and-running thirdgen site. Would there be any interest of having an offsite database that would be a little easier to look through than the thread at the top of this forum?

Interesting
Like many of you, I would be very curious to know how many ThirdGen verts are still on the road. I would guess that by now something close to half the original production would have gone to the boneyard...
OK, My ride is as follows:
'90 RS Vert
Deep Red with Oak Tweed Interior. Top was changed to Buckskin (stayfast only!) from the original black. Motor/Tranny = 305TBI and 700R4 The original drivetrain is still in place and has 135,000 miles and counting.

Before you had Internet access, or like me, prior to 2000, I had no idea. But for me, I always had an effection for the Firebird as the Camaro didn't seem rare at all...it was the trendy teenage car, if not the Mustang
My first tip was a car listing in the paper Nationwides, Auto Trader or different...still have it.
The original owner (he says) was selling at $17,000 a 1989 Formula Firebird akin to mine as it was white with black accents, the cheapie turbo wheels but leather int in tan and power acces, again, like mine. He stated that the 89 production number was 6000...or just over IIRC

If anybuddy wants to play with a database registry I put one up here:
http://www.dzy.org/p/index.phtml
I don't advise entering your email, and I'll add more fields like maybe color, mods, RPO's.. whatever. suggeations are ok but this is a hobby so be gentle.
Theres 1 car in the DB.. mine. I'm a real convertible owner yes. I won't promise that the data won't get lost but I'll back it up. Making the items editable by the owner will require passwords etc so for the first couple versions you may have to simply re-type your entry if you want to use the new fields. I'll clue you in as to the trick to make duplicates easy on me the first couple times.
Play with it and I'll improve if theres interest. Try not to fill it with garbage ay? I skipped the "pretty" stuff for now.

I find the registry idea interesting, but, call it paranoia, I am not too sure about putting in VIN Numbers...

Without a "login" for everyone I can't let folks CHANGE their entries, so just DUPLICATE your info if you want to add some more info.. Its just ALPHA testing at this point.. so do whatever.

I learned in HTML posts, just bracket your pics' Properties URL in "[img][/img]", or [ im(i)g(e) ], [ / im(i)g(e)] brackets

I agree that a registry would be wonderful, but the sticky in this forum, and any other thread not strictly moderated will just end up being half registry info and half chatter.
Chatter is great and all, but if it's a registry thread, then just put your VIN (incomplete) and factory car's form (305 TPI/TBI, MT/AT, color)
I hope the registry site that 92Z-666 can hold up, I'll offer what I can on it. Like eveyrone else, I'd really like to know how many of the (in my case) 3,761 of my car produced are still on the road!

Oh, I tried to offer my info, but got errored due to no VIN entered. I'll enter it when I remember to write it down and bring it to the computer next time.
BTE, you spelled "legal" wrong under the "usages" section!

A few years back I started a registry for the 1254 1992 Z28 convertibles that were built. It is an incredible amount of work to start a worthwhile registry. And I say worthwhile because without a VIN number the data is pretty much useless. Some are reluctant to give up the VIN (even though I can walk up to your car in the parking lot and jot the vin down
)making your job even harder. I scanned Ebay, AutoTraderOnline and other sites almost weekly looking for new cars, then contacting the owner, trying to get data. I managed to get about 100 cars registered before divorce took my 92 and some of the interest for the registry away. I'd focus on a particular year or model you are interested in to narrow the task. I had a friend that worked at a dealer and we talked about doing block VIN searches on 1992 Camaros to extract the Z28 convertibles from the 70K+ cars built (If memory serves on that total production number).
Just my two cents.

Speaking of RUST...
Just because you mention it, I tackle with rust in the Midwest, not much of any solution ever seems suggested in the press, however, I've come across a great many products (in stores), one of which I submit for opinions, How good is this one?
Krud Kutters Brand: The Must for Rust logo orange, red cap in white with silver background label... Says Rust inhibiter and remover, protects bare metal for 12 months. Due to my hesitance to sand in the partial painted areas (where it has flaked) I've yet to apply it, but plan to now that winter is past.
Directions state keeping wet on metal to remove rust and wipe with clean cloth, prior removal of oil and grease. Rinse metal to break surface tension and wash away loose dirt. Apply with brush, spray or dipping. Chemical action begins at once, allow to dry before reassembling small parts. dilute for clean metal (bare)
Medium to light rust dissolved in 30 minutes, etc, etc. Sounds like a good solution for small areas needing attention. (krudkutter.com)

Got it in 2000 but it had a boneyard bumper on it and a pretty obvious metal-repair to a bumper support
Did you keep any of the data from the 100? Thats more than I expacted to ever see.. so far only 4 entries and thats not enough for me to go run and work on a better version.. but I will casually continue improvments.. been busy .. It did not seem that there was any interest for something separate from the various TGO board-posts. I think in 30 years I'd like to know "where are they now"..
Oh, the spelling errors are intentional.. theres more in the scripts.. pretty funny the original author obviously has either a sense of humor, or a poor translation program

I have most of the cars in paper form. The data base I started took a crap on a hard drive but I'll recreate it oneday. I captured ext/int color, cloth or leather, auto/5speed, cassette or cd, and top colorand the most important part, the VIN. I think I also asked about the ASC build sticker on the door.
