88-90 IROC Verts
88-90 IROC Verts
Which is the most recommend year to get??
I know the 90's are the rarest and the 88-89's do not have the driver side airbags, etc.
What do you think??
Thanks~~

Get whatever you can that is clean and not a total basket case. I still see a fair amount of 'verts around the LA area, but most of them look like shizzle... If you can find a clean '87 or '90 for a reasonable price, nab it.

I agree with drop-top IROC. If you have your heart set on an IROC instead of a Z-28 (like I did), grab anything you can find that is in decent shape reguardless of year. Yes, 1990 was the rarest year, but that really wont have an effect on price/value of the car since all years were pretty rare comparitivley.

A lot of people really like the 89's, better brakes and few other options. But like the others mentioned, any one of these years in good shape is hard to find. Figure between 87-92 there were only about 14,000 total "Z" convertibles made...its 18 years later, there are only maybe a few thousand left for all these years put together.
Get one and enjoy the fact that you will probably never see another one in your area driving around, your driving something very special no matter what the year!

For my Pontiac fixation, I love the stock, big heeled steering wheel and most to all air-bag applications are gastly. I've had the old problem of instead of being a 'babe-magnet', my car seemed to be a plain old Magnet! Too many people hitting me, or me being distracted and impacts adding to my problems over the years (one instance I stopped for an emergency vehicle and the lady behind me kept going, right into me!!!!)
I'd say, clean is nice, but resale value of F cars isn't what you should factor highly, there are alot of other cars getting more demand before the F car third gens, but they will get older, of course

If the IROC name is what you're after, then it really doesn't matter much, like everyone else is saying...
But my '88 IROC 'vert barely compares to my '91 Z28 'vert....but that's just my opinion on the way the interiors looked and other minute details.
