3rd Gen Vert Power vs. 4th Gen Vert Power
I've seen 4th gen convertibles available with LT1's. 320 hp!
How come GM was more able to put these mills in the 4th Gen convertibles and not in the 3rd Gen? Was I looking at custom engines in 4th gen verts?
Basically the question is this: Were their substantial improvements in the 4th Gen unibody so that GM felt more comfortable with putting in stronger engines in the vert than in the third gen?

GM did a much better job than ASC. They planed a vert from the start of the 4th gen. Our 3rd gen were a cobbled together after market at best.

Yes, the 4th gen Convertible is a better car in almost every way. Gm built these on the assembly line with the coupes. My buddies '95 Z28 was a blast to drive in, no squeeks or rattles and lots of *****. Although a nice looking car(he had chrome 17" SS wheels on it) I still prefer the 3rd gens looks better.

1. the 4th gen vert subframes are beefier than 3rd gens
2. there is more reinforcement behind the rear pillars
3. and they have an extra cross brace (called the g-load brace in the aftermarket).
4. and of course they have the subframe rails like ours do from asc
the 4th gen convertible is probably the most rigid f-body ever built

i think it was mostly the time in which the 3rd gen was a 3rd gen 82-92.
"we" were coming back from the oil crisis and getting away from the small crappy fuel efficient cars; gremlins, chevettes, ect. powerfull car were just starting to come back.
some early camaros came with 4 cycls if im not mistaken.
