Glass or plastic?

Tax return time!! Funding a new top for the 91 Vert, just gathering opinions on the glass vs. plastic rear window. I want a glass one, but if its more trouble than its worth, i also wanna know. Thx in advance!

I would go with plastic, and keep the stock look. I think the glass is smaller then the plastic window. If you decide to go plastic let me know, I have a brand new black top.

Pics please.

Seriously, I am considering speding money on my replacement except for the simple fact that my top os totally in tact. Doesn't leak a drop.

Same here. Evidentally the previous owners of my car replaced the top rather recently. Just wished they would've gone with a glass rear window. Mine's great, just dreading the day it starts leaking/fading/cracking/yellowing.

I went to one shop last year and was quoted ~$900 with their top and installlation and ~$600 if I supplied the top.

Although my friends girlfriend had to pay $700 to have just her window replaced. Yikes!

That's about what I was told too for both repairs. It just makes sense to replace the top.

Talk about yellowing? It's much worse than this now:

I paid about $210 to have my rear window replaced about a year ago (original window after 15 years!) Three weeks later, some punks sliced up my top to get about $3 in change out of my ashtray when it was parked overnight behind my house.

do it! the guy who's shop installed my top also put in the head liner in my IROC-Z and also stripped a passenger cloth seat and put the skin on the driver seat in the IROC for me. (i accidentally bought the wrong seat)

great guy with lots of talent. and the tint shop that tinted my windows is right next door so i got the top put on and the tint done in the same weekend

no sewing required as far as i know...it's just a matter of getting it to fit properly over the frame. i've never done it, and most people dont, most people have a shop do it for them so it doesn't turn out bad...but if you wanted to try it yourself i bet there is a thread on it somewhere on this site...might have to use the prehistoric "SEARCH" tool good luck with that
