Did the early cars have the "edge retainer strip" metal piece screwed to the bow like 91 -2 cars had? it seem to have held the top in place on the front bow in addition to it being glued on. My 88 does not have one, so I need to know if I have to find one.

 

Below (I hope) is a picture of the front bow on my 1988 convertable. It doesn't appear to have the piece you are asking about. This is the original top so I know it isn't missing any pieces. If the picture doesn't show what you are looking for let me and I will take another one.
