I am having difficulty trouble shooting my tonneau release switch not working on my 89 iroc convertible. The hatch pull down unit is new so I don't believe that is the problem. How do I find out if the relay is bad or if the solenoids are bad? Is it possible to just run new hot wires from the release switch to each solenoid onits own fuse or is there a better way to resolve my problem.

 

pull the switch and ground the tan wire. if they pop, then its not the relay.. it'd be the switch i think. if it doesnt, double check your trunk button under the pull down unit. I just checked mine and it was the trunk button that was broke. I jumped it and now i have no issues.

 

I had this problem. When I finally tracked it down I found that the circuit was not plugged into the trunk release... There should be a place to plug this into your release. If not - you can find the plug and just jump across the two contacts and it should work...

Where is the trunk button? I am not sure what you mean by the pull down unit.
