Ever bought weatherstripping on ebay?

I was putting my top down today and a chunk of the rear bow seal broke off.

So I was looking on ebay and there's a member by the name of "am-autoparts" who has this piece (afermarket) for $85.95 + $10.95 shipping. I also saw that Hawks sells this piece (also aftermarket) for $159 + shipping.

Has anyone ever bought from this ebay member before, and is it a quality seal? I'd rather not spend the $95 for the ebay seal to find it won't keep water out and then have to buy one from Hawks also.

Re: Ever bought weatherstripping on ebay?

I did 4 years ago and right now I don't remember who I got them from but mine was a complete kit for a hard top car. I alway's cleaned them and protected them and the car sits in my garage 99% of the time and they are now all cracked and coming apart at the seams. I am now going to have to replace them again to make it look good again. I only paid 139.99 for the whole kit. I guess you do get what you pay for.

Go with a name brand seal like Soft Seal. There are some off-shore brands that are junk. Use the good stuff, maintain it and it will last. If your car is older, don`t buy "factory" original seals, they are as old as the ones you are replacing.

the kit on Ebay is Metro good brand just make sure you use a seal conditioner instead of Armor All as it will dry out the rubber.

Re: Ever bought weatherstripping on ebay?

Lonestar Muscle car sells a full weather stripping kit but it is pretty expensive. I used their products on my 69 Impala as well as their door strip on my 3rd gen. Good stuff, softseal I believe. Seems the price for all the pieces needed for a vert was close to $600. I'm struggling with the decision now thinking it may be easier to do it one piece at a time as I need them. Probably will cost more in the long run, but is spread out over a longer time. Not sure what I will do.
