convertible top troubles
convertible top troubles
Ok, so the top on my 88 iroc came unglued at the bottom rear section. so i reglued it to the frame, and now i cant get it to close. when the front is latched the rear wont latch, and vice versa. Is there anything to adjust? this is driving me crazy. any help will be greatly appreciated.

Ok, so i pulled the top off bow#5 (or atleast i think it is.. its the rear most part of the top.) thinking maybe i had stretched it to much when i reglued it. from what i can tell it looks like the fabric of the top has shrunk, is this a possibility?
With the top up and latched, there is atleast 1-2 inches the fabric would need to stretch, to reach the area (bow#5) it gets glued to.
This car was like this when i bought it. So i dont have any way of knowing how it came unglued etc.

is it an old top or new (newer) when you put a new top on it shrinks. it is a fabric so just think of it as a new shirt then you wash it. just work it around the best you can. best of luck to you sorry I can't be of more help but it is something where unless I was there I can't do much.

Re: convertible top troubles
if you glued it too tight, all you can do is try to stretch it.... latch the front, and try to close the back.

Re: convertible top troubles
The top that is on mine is definately a tight fit. I usually have to slam the back down to get it to latch. This is after I have latched the top. If I do tha back first, the front isn't going to latch at all.
