I have been keeping it started and run it up to operating temps pretty much every week. That is why I was surprised that she didn't start the next day. I put a fuel pressure gauge on it and she wouldn't even move the needle. I jumped the fuel pump and it just trickles out of the scrader valve. I tried to pinch off the return line to see if it ws possibly the regulator but all I got was the same nothing. I also hooked up my laptop with the Tuner Pro software and check the fuel pump signal voltage. It read just fine. I guess the fuel pump went bad but I just don't know. Guess I could unhook the fuel filter and check pressure there. I really don't wanna drop the exhaust and tank to replace the pump. We'll see.

I still can't believe that someone sent that car to the boneyard.
Me and my buddy were at that yard in MD and I saw the vert sitting there.Having a vert myself I wanted to part it out but the guy said he wanted to sell the car whole and not as parts. He said he wanted 1500.00 for it.Since I didnt have any way to get it home I never pursued it.I am glad it didnt get crushedOriginally Posted by TIMMYS89GTA

Again, just kidding FC! I just replaced a fuelpump in a diff. car last week and the tank was totally nasty! rust and varn. gas everywhere!
I hosed the tank with water, drained it then dumped a half gallon of muriatic acid in sloshed it around a bit, dumped it out then stood the tank up on end and let the water hose run in there for another half hour.
Next morning the tank looked almost new inside.
Thanks for all the well wishing guys. I appreciate the support and offer to help with replacing the fuel pump. (Timmy)!!
I'll try to keep everybody up to date.

isnt there a writeup some where about cutting an access hole in the trunk to get the FP out without dropping said tank?

It is possible to do the cut the top of the area above the rear area to access the fuel pump... One thing that I did not like about going that route was the fact that the Fuel lines are Steel, not plastic like the newer cars, so to actually get the unit out I really was not sure how it would work out...
I have heard that if you pull the driveshaft, and the torque bar, and then disconnect the shocks then lower the Axle forward then lower the exhaust you can actually get the tank out that way... A friend of mine said he did it that way... I have personally never tried it as i was always one to completely remove the Axle then drop the Exhaust...

I've actually accomplished getting the tank out of the car just by dropping the lower shock bolts, and the brake line conjuction block on the rear end.Originally Posted by okfoz

Is alot of work still but not as bad as dropping the torque arm and driveshaft.
I also reccomend to NOT! cut the access hole.
Yah, I think I'll pass on cutting huge holes in a unibody car! Especially with a vert being without a trunk area to work in. I'll have to do it the old fashioned way.

the thing is,in a vert you cant get to the area you need to cut out to make an access door..it would be more work than just pulling the tank...since the vert has a "trunk" not a hatch area I don't even think you would have room to lift the sending unit out if you did get the hole cut.............
I say just replace the pump and anything else that can be replaced in the process to avoid doing it later....lower control arm bushings, sway bar links, change rear grease,etc....
just make another small project out of it,no need to skimp now,ya know.
