Weekend Junkyard score!
Weekend Junkyard score!
I wasn't sure where to put this, but the parts will be going into my conv. project....so here seemed as good a place as any. I am going to be making a running thread for my project in the next week or so.
I went to the local pick-n-pull this weekend, I ended up finding 4 F-bodies there. I got my 5-speed pedal setup, a replacement pass. side mirror, a new outer door handle (pass side), and the crown jewel a 2.25 lock-lock steering box. I had only found V6 cars, when a stripped black Iroc caught my eye, just for s#!&s and giggles, I tried to see how many turns it was lock to lock....but the column was locked.....tried to break the ignition ended up breaking my screw driver.....I ended up putting a breaker bar on the steering nut and forcing the column (not the wheel) to turn lock to lock.....just over 2! Took a while to get the whole thing apart, and wouldn't you know, I brought the pickle fork, and NO HAMMER
!!! But a kind soul lent me one.....and I eventually got my prize out of the yard, all told the haul cost me just over $70, I was pretty pleased with myself!
I still need new shocks, but I now have my 36mm 1LE front sway, my 24mm rear sway bar, a 2.25 steering box, and debating whether to top it all off with lowering springs or not (I already hit the ground effects on EVERYTHING). With the 3.42 posi rear from an 02 SS and an LT1/T56 combo on the way, this should be one fun vert! I am hoping in 2 months to have it all wrapped up and done (with the exception of paint).
