1992 Trans Am Convert Tail Lights
1992 Trans Am Convert Tail Lights
I just purchased a 1992 Firebird Trans Am convertable. I checked the car fax report and it is classified as a Trans Am; however, the taillights look to be the ones on the regular Firebird. Is it common for someone to have switched the taillights out from the Trans Am to a Firebirds? When I locate the correct taillights, will it be difficult to remove and replace them with the proper Trans Am ones?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tail lights are an easy & simple swap. A previous owner might have swapped them.

Considering the demand for those lights (yes, I want a pair) odds are they were yanked from the car and replaced.
That's my bet.
Expect to pay in the neighborhood of 600 bucks or more for replacements in good shape. Not kidding. These lights use the same mounts as the standard ones but require a different wiring harness to accomodate the differences in the number of bulbs and location.

I saw a set the other day. He was asking $650, never installed on a car. Straight off the dealers parts shelf.
Can't find the thread now though. I thought he was insane. What makes 92 TA lights so special?
