Junkyard score

Went to my local u-pull-it with a friend of mine yesterday looking for some camaro parts. First thing we see was a 92 Camaro RS 'vert. It was that polo or hunter green color. Light hit on the left front corner. Car was mint otherwise, including the top.

Took us 1.5 hrs, but we walked out of there with the top/frame, latches, tonneau cover, truck lid/spoiler, sail panels and all the 'vert specific trim

Grand total was $318

I would've rather just swapped the stuff from my 'vert to that car, but they wouldn't sell it. Mine top and frame is shot..... plus my tonneau cover doesn't have the lever to release the top, blah, blah, blah lol

I might go back later this week. Car had perfect tails, side and rear gfx's and a passenger fender... debating if I want the doors too...... blah

Re: Junkyard score

So they'll let you buy every single part off the car but won't sell the car as a whole? That's dumb

Sounds like a nice find. It's too bad you couldn't just bring the whole thing home on a trailer.

yep, yard here got bought out by pick-n-pull. They will no longer sell whole cars. Even if you dont want the title, they still wont sell it.

Re: Junkyard score

wasn't planning on it. Hoping to put it all on my 88 which has frame/top issues, plus a tonneau that has no release. Might sell my old truck lid spoiler though..... not sure though

I have another tonneau and truck lid I've been debating parting with...... Just the idea of shipping them is kinda scary

Re: Junkyard score

both the frame and the trunk are fine on my car but if im am not mistaken you also purchased specific vert interior trim and hopefully the rear quarter pannels where the speakers are mounted and that is what i need some of that specific trim and pannels

Re: Junkyard score

dude would yoube willing to pull and sell some parts for a vert bro?I really need the plastics beside the rear seats with the speakers and grills in them..I have a bird but they are the same i think
Thanks and awesome find bro...Oh and btw most yards wont sell a whole car because they can get more for the parts separate....even if they have to set on it for years...then they just crush it and get $ for the scrap...it sux but thats the way they do it.......

Ive seen at least 3 asc verts and 2 non asc verts in junkyards.Only 1 of the asc verts (92RS) was a mostly complete car.I was lucky and got alot of the vert specific odds & ends I need for my own vert. The other 2 asc verts I also managed to salvage a few odds & ends from like a set of grey seatbelts, door jam weatherstrips,Seat belt caps.
Here are a few pics of a stripped 89 Iroc Vert I found in a local yard.It was a 305 TPI 5 Speed car

Re: Junkyard score

If you end up going back let me know. I am looking for tan leather seats and door panels for my convertible. If they are in good shape and you would be willing to drop them off to have them packaged and shipped I would make it worth your time!

Thanks,
Scott

Oh man, what a terrible loss... That looks like it was a great car. I'd say I would buy it as is, but a junk title is hard to deal with, especially in PA

Re: Junkyard score

It's to bad you can't have your name and number regisered with insurance company's so they can call you when your year and model comes up in a totaled claim. My mothers car just got hit and was taken away by insurance company. It was mint with only 34000 miles.(not a carmaro) Lots of great parts for someone.
