Junkyard Score

Took a ride to a local u pull it yard today and as I walk in I see a camaro vert.Turns out to be an 89 Iroc lb9 w/auto trans. Its sitting on the ground with the forks from the lift under it.I ask the guy if its for parts,he says yes and then tells me he will move it to a clear area so I can pick from it.The car was kinda trashed. The motor was gone along with the hood and the dash.I ended up getting the Top frame(top was garbage),Tonneau cover,Rear Armrest Panels,Trunk Plastics,Seatbelts and pretty much anything else that was salvageable.Needless to say I left the yard with a big smile on my face

Re: Junkyard Score

Yep it was at shortys. The car was in front of the import section right by where they put all the new arrivals so I made sure I asked first. It was a red 89 Iroc with grey interior. The guy dropped it in front of the ford section right by that off limits gate on the right hand side.A few people came over and looked at it but I was the only one pulling parts off it

Re: Junkyard Score

awesome score. it seems like finding good stuff these days for these cars is getting harder and harder, especially up here in New England. all of the ones I've come across have been quite thoroughly picked apart long before my visits

Sadly, this trend will probably not decrease but increase as time goes on. it's also starting to get to the point that a lot of people are starting to realize what parts off these cars are worth so they are pulling them off before they scrap it. Case in point, I saw a 1991 GTA 350 in a yard in KC last time I went bout a month ago, it was pretty well stripped. It's not the first one I've seen like this either, so it makes me think either the yard is pulling the parts off before they put it out to be picked or the owner is pulling the stuff off before they send it to the yard.
