Re: My 88 IROC Convertible build thread.
Went ahead and placed an order with Spohn for the T56 crossmember and ordered some shiny new bolts for it as well.
Just got back from autozone, and picked up spark plug wires, oil filter, fuel pump, and fuel pump sock. Picking up the Spark plugs and AC Delete pulley, and some oil tomorrow.
So that means I intend on getting this beast running/driving before selling.

Cool deal. After all that work there is no way I'd sell it without driving it first. Too much time to not get to see what its like. Although after driving it I probably couldnt get myself to sell it either.

Re: My 88 IROC Convertible build thread.

Update:
Got the headers, spark plugs, and plug wires in today.

And a question.. I got the AC/Delete pulley, and the points on it where it mounts to the engine, are tapped for bolts, but the bracket on the engine is also tapped for bolts. What should I do about that? If I get a 3/8" drill bit and remove the threads from the pulley bracket, I could use some bolts to simply slide through and thread into the engine bracket. Is this a good idea? Anybody experienced this before?

Re: My 88 IROC Convertible build thread.
Got some bolts from ACE hardware today to mount the power steering pump, and they worked like a charm, if anyone needs to know the size, just let me know and I will dig up the reciept and find out. Also picked up vacuum caps, vacuum hose, some 250psi FI hose, along with some FI hose clamps. Bought a new PS high pressure line made for a 95 Caprice, because it seems like thats what most people are running, its nowhere near fitting in its stock form, but as long as it is long enough to reach from the pump to the box, I should be able to bend it in the right manner. I also had to drill out the threads on the delete pulley, then slid some bolts through and bolted them to the motor, which worked out perfectly, and topped it off with a brand new belt.
Oh, and my Spohn T56 Crossmember arrived on Saturday. I have to say I am VERY impressed with their over-the-phone support, and willingness to make their customers happy. The part arrived quickly, and the quality is top notch. I wouldn't hesitate ordering from them again.
I plan on finishing cutting the shifter hole for the trans, and mounting it up for good. I want to get most of the under-hood stuff buttoned up and maybe put the hood back on it so I feel more accomplished. lol

Re: My 88 IROC Convertible build thread.
Picked up more misc parts today, pretty much got all the coolant lines ran and hooked up, just gotta get the steam line ran then I am done with that part. Cut the shifter hole a little larger for the T56 shifter to come up, and installed the spohn T56 crossmember, it fit just like a stock piece, a very quality piece.
Dropping the rearend, exhaust and gas tank tomorrow and putting in the TPI fuel pump, also gotta hook up all the exhaust, and get a new trans mount, as the one I have is broken (Of course!). Also going to try and put the driveshaft in and mount the torque arm, and I should be done under the car.

Re: My 88 IROC Convertible build thread.
Worked on more wiring today. Decided not to use the 4th gen Fuseblock, and instead used an aftermarket fuse block to run all of the IGN fuses. Hooked up the battery, and nothing fried or caught on fire, so thats a good sign lol! The headlights and all lights still work, and when I turned the key on the fuel pump turned on, but I don't have the lines hooked up so it just shot fuel on the floor, haha.
nice, looking foward to seeing this done.. thats sounds like a fire hazard waiting to happen tho.. doing electrical work not knowing if anything was going to spark and then having fuel spill on the floor lol .. glad everything is going so well tho.. bet u cant wait to do this

Re: My 88 IROC Convertible build thread.
I decided to try and make a list that entales everything that needs to be done so I can drive with the new combo, and heres what I came up with:
-Install Driveshaft
-Install Y-Pipe
-Buy/Install Trans mount
-Run ALDL, Speedo, and SES wires (Finally got an 88 c203 connector so I can run these)
-Modify/Buy throttle cable
-Buy/Install FPR
-Hook up fuel lines
-Bend/Install High-pressure PS line
-Buy/install PS return line
-Get O2 bungs welded in, and put in O2 sensors
-Get ECM tuned
-Hook up clutch master cylinder (Ugh, I hate these things)
-Hook up clutch slave cylinder
-Fill trans with fluid
-Change oil/filter
-Install/wire fans
-Run steam line
-Plug in the trans connectors
Now, if I can get my jacks to start working again, maybe I can get to work on it.. lol
