New top installed before or after new paint?

I'm planning on painting my car. Would a new top be installed before or after paint? What other tips?

You could have the top done before paint but you better make sure the top is completely covered and wrapped up so it does not get any paint on it.
I had my top done and the next year had it painted, but made it very clear to the guy painting it that if he got paint on the top he would have to pay for it.
Just my 2 cents
