Does anyone have or know how to tell if the convertible top and window is ASC original or a replacement.
I don't have history on vehicle yet. My rear window has an embosssed KAL GLAS and DOT # plus cleaning info
It might be possible in the northeast if car was garaged more in the winter and sun is not as harsh as south and south west.
Don't know if having an original top and 84K miles is going to make much difference because its going to be a summer driver on top down days.
Appreciate any info you might have.

 

After the "claeaning instructions", there should be a number. My '91 says "D-91". If yours also says 91 it is probably the original top because, I believe, this is a date code of some type.

The AS code gave me an idea it might be a ASC DOT approved window and top.
It was more to answer questions around here. It's in pretty good shape. The window cleaned up pretty nice with this Nova 1,2,3 system cleaner polish I've used on my bike windshields and boat canvas windows.. I might not have picked it up if the top and interior (cloth) was tore up. Question do you or should you waterproof the top and should this canvas be treated different than Sunbrella boat canvas.

 

Looks like the top was replaced in 2004. That is about the same time I replaced mine. As for care, the OEM top material only needs a little TLC with a moderate brush with soap and water. No sealers or waterproofers are typically needed but that may be different where you live. Neither my original nor the replacement I put on 5 years ago had any leaks through the material. (By the way, my sunbrella boat top has never been cleaned with anything but soap and a brush and it has never leaked either!)

 

Very good, thank you for the feed back.. Mine is prettry water tight overall. Will get a leak at drivers shoulder from car wash pressure. went thru as a test and under chassis bath. Mostly washed by hand. Quite often with the top down.
Got a buddy from our marina moved to Navarre. They took us over to Destin Mall . Pretty fancy area.

Got down to Sarasota for Feb this year, weather much better than last, went to car show at Sarasota Mall held each year before Super Bowl. I have yet to see a Pontiac 3 gen Vert yet and very few Camero's. Did catch one up in International Mall Tampa (pretty blue RS, Black top) at end of Feb in parking lot. Between Corvette and few Camero's the tops that have the Cal Glas window do seem to indicate year of manufactor with the D- 04 (in my case). So I thank you for your info.
