1988 Iroc Convertible Project
Two years ago I bought this convertible for $1800. this is its first picture. The transmission was bad, top and tires were no good, the rims were pitted and the interior need cleaning. The tune port was gone and a carb took its place. It was a mess. But it was worth saving.

In its first year, I replaced the top and tires. Replacing the top for the first time was easier than I thought. Take your time and use the right materials and tools. The car was already in primer, so it was sanded down again and reprimed. Originally it was red, but somebody painted it orange.

Other than a little wrinkle in the front passenger fender, the body was pretty good. Cracks were repaired in the gfx and panels adjusted. The worst I found was a small hole in the floorboard behind the driverseat. It was repaired and renforced.
In sept. 2009 I left to Afghanistan for a year and the car was stored up. A year later I returned home and decided to sell it. A friend decided to buy it and together the project is being finished.
Over the last month, the body was resanded and prepped for painting. Sometime in the next week it goes to the painter. The three piece spoiler, mirrors, and gas lid removed. I even removed the tonneau cover for repair. The ends were torn up. This was not easy and took a few hours. Its fiberglass and glued on. It sustained some damage, but is salvageable.

After paint, the motor gets pulled, cleaned and the tpi and wireharness below gets its new home.

Over the next few months Ill be posting the updates on the project. The weatherstripping, tonneau cover material, tpi pieces, and so on are on order and on the way.

Re: 1988 Iroc Convertible Project
i bought a can of contact cement from walmart. its in the arts and crafts section i think. run over to the hardware section and get a few diffrent size brushes. do not get the foam brushes.i started from the rear and worked my way forward.
since it has been done, i have not had any adhesive problems. it worked great.
the paint will be done by the end of the month. that gives me enough time to work on the deck spoiler and tonneau cover. ill be posting those over the next week.
