1986 IROC CONVERTIBLE CAMARO...ALL THE INFO

I AM REPOSTING THIS THREAD DUE TO ISSUES THAT THERE WAS MISINFORMATION ON IT AND I WOULD LIKE EVERYBODY TO HAVE ALL THE INFORMATION IN ONE PLACE. THIS LOOKS LIKE A CLEAN CAR/AND YES IT DOES HAVE FRESH PAINT.

THIS CAR WAS CONVERTED INTO A CONVERTIBLE BY ASC IN 1991. DOOR TAG IS THERE TO PROVE IT.

Check out this website. I found this regarding this car online. The current owner didnt know anything of this webpage about his car or that this had even been done to it.

http://www.hotrodrestoring.com/mscp/iroc.html

This will give you its vin code, pics of it stripped down and car fax.

I will also give you the link to his craigslist ad.

http://detroit.craigslist.org/mcb/cto/2229395258.html

***CAMARO IS RUNNING AGAIN, HE SAYS THE INJECTORS WILL NEED TO BE CLEANED OUT*****

I AM INTERESTED IN TRADING HIM FOR MY 1995 DODGE RAM 1500 OFF ROAD TRUCK. THE PRICE ON MY TRUCK CASH, FOR THE WAY HE WOULD BE TAKING IT IS $3700. HE IS ALSO THROWING IN A OLDER STYLE LARGER DIRTBIKE IN GOOD RUNNING CONDITION

I am giving this car a second glance due to the fact that it did get better reviews than the 1984 Z28 that i was looking into. I hope this helps clear anything up that i may have missed in my original thread.

Re: 1986 IROC CONVERTIBLE CAMARO...ALL THE INFO

after reading the last thread and looking at that site i would stay away...theres too many things changed around and what looked like a ton of rust, not that i am against fixing these cars cause believe me i am all for it, but you don't know if it was good work or shotty work....if you want one i would save and buy a nice one thats mostly original and then you won't have to give up your truck and you can have both, thats what i do, and my winters can't be as yours. but what it really really boils down to is what you want. if you want it do the deal

oh and i would say that 9 times out of 10 when someone who is selling one of these cars says the injectors need "cleaning" they really mean or replacing, or it doesn't run right and they don't know why

third gens arent that complicated, but they do tend to be a love / hate kind of affair,.

the 2 deals you were looking at just were just not right. plain and simple. there are better deals out there.

I know this is no where near you, but this is what you need to look for.

http://orlando.craigslist.org/cto/2222940898.html

this would be a great platform to start with. If you wanted to be a stock-****, it wouldnt take a boat load of cash to get it there. OR if you wanted to go more performance, the car is unmolested and then YOU would know what is in it.

Re: 1986 IROC CONVERTIBLE CAMARO...ALL THE INFO

that is a very nice car, i like it except for the fact that it has high mileage. I wouldnt pay cash for anything that had over 130,000 miles. I suppose i should conquer one issue at a time, first being sell my truck so i had the cash to work with.

This car is a bit more expensive but it looks VERY NICE!!!

Read his messsge in the post.. His daily driver broke down, but he drives this car to work? It also says the "new" engine has maybe 50 miles. (doubt that). He is willing to trade for a sport bike, who in MI does that if the are in need of a daily driver. I am from Mt. Pleasant and I know that the 3ft of snow make it hard to ride a bike. This is one of them deals that sounds to good to be true. $2,200 for a 400 horse bird, w/all the extras he has added on?

Re: 1986 IROC CONVERTIBLE CAMARO...ALL THE INFO

Look for something '85 and newer with the TPI in it. When buying a vert I would stay away from anything that seems remotely cobbled up. If you want a suv that will tear things up look into the '98 jeep grand cherokee 5.9 limited. I had one for a while and it was a blast to drive. Take your time and save your money for a fbody that is in good condition, its amazing the difference in car you will get when you go from spending 3500 to just 5500. Good luck with things.

I agree with loneroad. Third gens are actually quite simple and the later years only had a couple of models. They are quit simple to work on. Still offer decent handling and performance (350 auto / 305 5spd std) compared to today's cars. Clean ones do turn heads. Clean convertibles can turn a lot of heads. They only tend to get complicated when they've been messed with and have mixed parts and non-stock mods. And after 20+years the latter tends to be the case. But scoring a decent ride can be worth the effort. You also won't find them at a better price at this stage in their life. As for the bang for the buck, these cars are really hard to beat.

Im so glad the car worked out for you! Honestly I was very hesitant on it due to the feed back and speaking with the original owner, who did not have any good things to say about the car. But congrats tho! I hope u have a blast! I've got a 95 eagle talon now, which is pushing all sorts of crazy power from numerous engine mods....but hey I'm glad it worked out for everybody.

Alright...so I really don't give a **** who bashes my new car on here. lol, this site is for camaros, so I new it was bound to happen. I just wanted to say that I was glad it worked out for him, and thY I am also very happy in the trade I got as well. my car was professionally built in cali, not some back yard hicks piling a bunch of parts together. anyways I am finished participating in your immaturity so have it it with my eagle talon.

o..one more thing. a dsm forum would rip you to shreds

Re: 1986 IROC CONVERTIBLE CAMARO...ALL THE INFO

back yard hicks? you should see some of the cars on here little girl, people have thousands of dollars into the PROFESIONALY BUILT MACHINES!
`
no one throws anything together in the site, its previous owners who do it and we just so happen to be the guys who save these cars from ignorant people like yourself who would more then likely blow the engine trying to put it into gear...

so before you run your mouth at us thirdgen guys and girls... i suggest you hold your tounge, you will be banned from OUR domain,

and the DSM BOARDS! HA! dont make me laugh, those boards are for mexicans and re tards who cant handle the power of a v8, and if they so called can i bet its long enough to wrap it around a pole...

you couldnt handle a thirdgen anyways,

F&%K YOU, AND HAVE A NICE DAY!

oh and another thing! why spend 3 grand on a turbo when you can spend 3 grand on another engine and have a good 500hp to play with? ingorance....
