Was there plans for a dash mounted tonneau release?

While thumbing thru the factory repair manual I noticed one of the dash mounted switches was marked tonneau release,it was next to the fog light switch. That would have been cleaner and not so fragile like the setup we have now. 92 TA vert

Not sure, on my 1989 TA the trunk switch powers the tonneau cover I don't think that is factory but I sure do like it.

The later cars used a switch on the tonneau cover IIRC. The early cars simply used the trunk release switch. The Non factory cars definitely used the trunk release switch. I am wondering if the switch was changed for the factory models, but I think they used the stock location.

mine has a pic of the tornneau on the switch (1989 model), but i think the switch internals are the same as a trunk switch.

Re: Was there plans for a dash mounted tonneau release?

ive got an 85 iroc vert and i need to wire up my switch for the trunk and tonneau, can anyone tell me what color wires do what? so i can run them and do them the way i like?

im thinking about using the normal spot for the truck realese, but hiding the tonneau one somewhere under the dash or in the center console under the lid,

i really need to know the power wires for the truck realse cause theres about 7 wires back there running to it and i cant make heads or tails... along with the tonneau realese, theres only two wires black and red and i cant figure out where they run to, theres only one brown wire tunning to the center console that hooks into the sliding switch HELP!
