just pick up a 1988 iroc convertible and its yellow is it factory coded as such not sure cars being ship off ebay

I dont believe yellow was available on the iroc in 88.There is a guy who live in my area who has an 88 sport coupe yellow vert.It has the 1988 specific "camaro" emblems on the rockers and rear bumper

 

Is that the one that was on ebay, for sale from a rust repair shop? If so, it was an original yellow car. Was thinking of buying it, but I think it needed too much work. Nice buy, though!

It looked like a really nice car. At least rust wont be an issue! It isnt the correct color. (The hood is.) I have the rear center spoiler if you need it. It was on my "watch list" After I called the guy, I kept it on there. You got it for a really nice price! I never could get him to send me any interior pics...

 

ok cool ill look at your spoiler long as the interior isnt ripped i have a friend who can actually match the seat color and dye them to bring back the seat interior seen his work he can even dye the carpets make it look fresh so do you think the hood was replaced or what

The hood is the original one. The previous owner had a Sunoco cowl hood on there. At some point he put the factory original hood back on. The hood is the correct (But faded.) color. Have you actually seen pics of the interior? I couldnt even get out of him what color it was. Being that it is an original yellow car, I suspect it is tan in color.

 

ad stated it isgray very common in that car sure dash pads cracked all all and i have a new black rug for it never put in 86 z28 once had bought and worse case ill trow set of those 40 bucks leather look a like set black and yellow seat covers look like leather lol really look good ina yellow car i plan on having done right anyways weshall see when i get the carhere how bad it is

LOL, sorry, I missed the interior color. You were lucky to end up with a grey interior. Almost all of the few yellow thirdgens I have seen had a tan interior (My yellow IROC had a tan interior, originally.)

You MUST post more pics when the car arrives! Really interested in seeing it!

 

That car is not an 88 iroc.Factory yellow was N/A for the iroc in 1988.You could only get yellow in a sport coupe.The wheels are single stripe 85-87 style.More than likely its an 87

 

i ran the vin comes up a 1988 iroc convertible back in the 80s they would special order a car on occasions ............ yes i will post more pics ill have the car here thurs ....... so will all find out if i can locate paint code unless its fugly looking inside but its def a 1988 and my thought wasit wasnt a iroc but it is vin matches

 

so im asuming the top just fold down and go in a opening behind the seat and a cover is used to hide the top or is there a lid that picks up to hide the top

 

There is a lid to hide the top. Called a "tonneau" cover.

 

I thought yellow was 86-87 only. Too bad as yellow is a good color on our cars.

 

Ok, went to do some research...According to the "camaro bible" (2nd printing, revised; 1996) 922 cars were painted 51U (Yellow) 903 were sport coupes and there is no info on the other "Dealer ordered" 19 cars. It's possible...

 

Yellow was avail in '85, '86, '87 and '88. Production was limited to less than 4,000 cars per year, but actual number vary. 3,912 cars were painted in yellow in 1986, and was the highest of the 4 years it was offered.

LOL, HAHAHA! Pretty sure you arent getting away with the second one! Back in the early '90's I had "PNS NV" (Uhhh...Pe&is envy) On the back of my IROC. I had to send in a Nitrous oxide system brochure for the "sneaky pete" hidden nitrous bottle. In the phamplet they call it "your personal nitrous system" I just told them it was "P ersonal N itrous S ystem envy" They bought it!

Nice find, but no yellow Irocs were available in 88.

 

lets see 88 iroc vert for sale lmao not as ad stated and its was dark red has ac a leak in manifold not ready for paint as advertized some body isuues interior seats are riped geart top thou and no cracks in the dash pad just the whndsheild lets see car over heated fan never kick on um front pass blinker lens broke nice threads doors sag no horn and major tune up engine looks orginal from the grime on it no power window switch lets seee oh a lights out on side marker and a cheaoo steering wheel replacement contacted seller dadadadada you got a great deal its rare vert lmao wonder what it will bring on ebay of i list it in this condtion lol only remorse i have now is to call the dmv in roade island and complain fraud for the private seller had a car dealer sell me the car and they sign my name to the registation with me not there to sign it legal lol ads stated runs great ready for paint

 

OOOhhhh! Not good! I was worried about that, which is why I didn't bid. Most of those are minor issues and to be expected with a car of this age. Most of that stuff is pretty easily fixed, though. I could tell it wasnt paint ready from the pics. Take some more pics though. I still dont think you got ripped off. They may have Mis-represented it, but it still cost less than a 'vert with no motor or trans in AZ would cost you!

so someone explain to me how the top is stored how do you remove the toneu cover to store the top is what im asking

 

Ok, not sure about the tonneau/top situation. Last time I drove one of these was in the early '90's.


One of these guys could probably explain it better. I know this: First release the rear of the top from the tonneau, then (I think.) you use the switch on the center console to release the tonneau. (It lifts to the rear.) then release the front of the top at the windshield header. Just fold the top down and then secure the tonneau. I THINK thats right...

3250 and talk the seller intro refunding my shipping cost of 450.00 i feell he didnt be up front about the car condition runs great damm thing over heats in like 15 minutes lol

I was hoping to get $3500 out of my 'vert when I put it up for sale later this month.....

downside is it has a rebuilt title......

 

With a 350 and an m6 you shouldnt have too much of a problem selling it for that... I would list on craigslist and ebay with at least a 3k reserve. Put in your ad that your reserve is 3k (Or whatever you decide.) Sellers appreciate that...
