Cool, can't wait to see it done, I really need to get back on my 91 but between trying to finish the 69 I have been distracted. I almost stole your brushed aluminum stripes for the 69 but did the front wrap around insted. Going to go look at 4 3rd gens (all IROC'S) today for my sons, he wants a T-top car so we are doing a 150 road trip now. Funny what some people consider mint, looked at one this morning that was MINT and needed paint, oh well lunch and than 3 more.

I dont know how I missed this before, but in swapping out the gas tank and upgrading the pump it was discovered that the previous owner swapped in a 9 bolt rear. I thought it was kind of weird that it had disc brakes but never really looked into it.

Here are updated pictures. I'm mailing out the wiring harnesses to another member here to get the swap harness built and this is how she sits.
The SLP 2OTL exhaust looks great in my opinion. It's going to sound even better.

It is going to be getting some powder coating under the hood but that will probably be over the winter. really just wanting to hear it run right now haha. Plus it will get fuel rail covers at some point. The LT intake will polish up easily until we get it powder coated anyways.

Got the harness in the mail from Z28ricer and starting plugging everything in tonight. Had to order two o2 sensors and a coolant temp sending unit, and gotta find the right plug for the C4 a/c compressor. After those small items are done, gotta have an o2 bung welded onto the passenger side header and just finish up wiring the power distribution block and she should be about ready to fire finally! yessssss

No I haven't gotten around to it. We put a pool up in my back yard that cost quite a bit of money so my seats got put on hold. That, and my brother still hasn't gotten his seats back from the upholstery shop yet and I can't get his old seats redone for my car until he gets his new houndstooth seats back....it will probably be this winter sometime before I'm ready to sell my seats unfortunately.

My dad was dropping it off at the shop to get a few last items done to get it running for this weekend and the thing rolled off the trailer accidentally into another trailer on the lot, destroying the rear bumper and doing sone damage to the quarter panel. I havent seen it yet but he said its prettt bad and hes real upset about it...we are lookin into the possibility of flying the painter in town (7 hrs away by car)...freaking sucks.

That's terrible. At least Landon's the best and will make it look better than new! One of these days I'll be able to afford to have him paint my 92.

He's looking to try to get the sheet metal beat back in and welded shut and then ground down and filled as opposed to cutting the quarter off and having a new one trimmed down and welded on. It definitely sucks either way you do it...

The only good thing I can say about that damage is the fact that it is a convertible so the painter can paint the damaged area and then just re clear the bumper and quarter panel without the need to do a dry blend up near the roof like on coupe cars. Trying to blend clear near the roof and then wet sand and buff it doesnt always work on and will be noticed down the road as the paint fades.

Oh and just a heads up, clean all the white (clearcoat) out of all those spots on the car and under it ASAP. It is a beotch to get it off later on down the road. Ask me how I know. I use an acid brush with a garden hose with low water pressure to clean it out of those hard to reach areas.

Re: Paint is done (pg 2) - Purple haze/silver Z03 LT1/T56 Z28 heritage car
I was at a car show 10 years ago (indoors) and a guy had a brand new re-done 55 2 door hardtop and when the show was over and he was backing out to leave he backed the car into a huge metal H beam all the way down the 1/4 panel into the door. He was an older man and his father had bought the car brand new and he had just gotten it restored. Two weeks after I got my 90 ZR-1 painted and got caught in a hail storm and had to get half of it re-sprayed.

I have done worse my self with a freshly painted car, came out of the down draft booth and forgot no brakescrumpled both quarters, broke my ankle and had to repair the wall at the shop. You can fix that quarter, either get a new bumper cover or strip that one down, the good part about the vert is the short quarter and that spoiler comes off for when you paint, that is a custom or factory pack paint?

I am sure it will look like new again, just sucks that it even happened, when I did it I panicked and tryed to stop a 67 Chevelle by stickink my left foot out the door, hence the broken ankle.

Re: Paint is done (pg 2) - Purple haze/silver Z03 LT1/T56 Z28 heritage car
Good news and bad news....good news first:
My dad got to finally hear it run yesterday. He said it sounds great, not too loud but has a nice tone.
He couldnt drive it home because they need to address a few small things first:
-forgot to ground the electric water pump so it wasnt kicking on
-need to burp the cooling system
-power steering gearbox seems to be leaking and will need new seals
-we believe the t bolt on the clutch fork is loose because when the pedal is depressed fully theres a bad grinding noise
Bad news:
Insurance isnt covering the damage to his car so the repairs will come out of pocket. He is going to try to get it taken care of within a few months if possible.

I was liking this build until I saw the damage. I hate when that happens.
After 17 years I finally got a new truck and 3 months into it I side swipe a concrete pole at McDonalds. Cost me $800 out of pocket. Almost a year to the date I was backing up to a parking spot looking behind me as I was pulling in and my front caught the bumper of the truck in front of me. I refuse to fix it and call it a battle scar.

Its just one thing after another with this build. For some reason this build is the polar opposite of my cars swap and his 89 LSx swap.
The electric water pump locked up and caused the wires to it to short out and melted the wiring and loom, not even sure how extensive it is as we havent pulled back all the loom yet. We saw at least the first 12 inches was melted from the water pump though. We havent even beem able to drive it yet lol

Wow that's crazy. You would think the harness would have a fusible link in it to protect that from hapening.

It has a fusible link by the battery but the meltdown happened by the pump.
This is our 2nd Z03 car. The black one was sold to ttypecamaro.

If the fusible link is exclusively for the water pump, the load should have been enough to melt the link. Is the link just for the pump?

Still haven't fixed the body damage but it did make it's maiden voyage today (finally!). It gets dropped off Monday to have the body fixed. We're still fixing just a few minor bugs that come with any swap but it runs and drives nice and is a fun one to watch going down the road. We took it on a 200 mile cruise for its first drive and it didn't have any hiccups which is a testament to Z28ricer and his wiring harness that he made for us. Enjoy the pics and the YouTube video of a startup and it idling. It's not loud but the SLP two on the left catback sounds great. The white car is my brother's 97 SS heritage clone.

dude.... that is awsome. one question though...... how did you get the hood to close as easy as it does in the video. every one i have ever owned you can never lay the hood down gently and click it down, always have to drop them from about 4 inches up. so.... how did you do it?
