Re: Junkyard Vert
While I was recently on vacation in Hilton head SC I hit a local yard in Georgia and found this 92 rs vert.It was fairly picked over but I did manage to find a few odds and ends

Re: Junkyard Vert
What did you get? since it still has top and trunk lid in pics?
Did you happen to take down VIN#...give it to OKFOZ so we can keep track of these cars once there are dismantled

Re: Junkyard Vert
Top frame was broken in several spots.Trunk lid and tonneau cover were bent in the center due to being pinched together.I got the top release cable with pull handle and some of the hardware under the tonneau that it attaches to.Also got the front top latches, rear seatbelts and the rear bow lock pin.Everything else was pretty much already gone

Re: Junkyard Vert
If you come across a passenger side front fender for a Camaro (preferably in white), let me know.

Re: Junkyard Vert
I don't need them but I'm wondering if everyone needs to start collecting the side peices for the trunk lid spoiler when they are found, but then again I have no idea how easily they would come off. It seems like that is one piece I never see for sale and don't know that it is being reproduced. Just a thought.

I have two spare sets at this point. I have not been able to get $100 for the one set. Spoilers in decent shape seem to be harder to find, in my experience. I also got lucky once, and found a vert trunklid with ZERO rust. The other ones I have found are always bent right in the middle, from opening the tonneau and trunk at the same time. And they always seem to have major rust issues.

Yeah I can see them not selling at this point easily but give it another ten years. I personally have never seen a vert in any salvage yard. I don't know if that's good or bad. Cause they are either not being junked or they are being crushed. Let's just hope they aren't all getting crushed.

It's really hard saving large pieces. I started out wanting to keep enough hard-to-find pieces, so if I am rear-ended in the future, it can be rebuilt. But it's a slippery slope. I'm fortunate enough to have a very large garage. But I'll be honest, I keep looking at the stuff, and asking myself, is it really worth hording? Do I really need two spare tops/frames, or a tonneau? I can't imagine how much space a hardcore person like Marc is taking up with his collection, he has all the good stuff! I was on vacation this past weekend, whitewater rafting in PA. We rode by a large backwoods junkyard, and I thought of the parts-picking-while-on-vacation story. I asked my wife if we could just stop and look around for a few minutes, and reminded her I had no tools. Her response was "Have you lost your f'n mind?".

I have salvaged 3 sets of Camaro side trim pieces and one for Firebird. I broke the first one trying to get it off b prying. Later I used a large gauge electric wire and used it in a sawing motion to cut through the double-sided adhesive.

Re: Junkyard Vert
I'm actually buying the whole 91 TA convertible from my junkyard and storing it. The body is so rust free it's amazing that it ended up in a junkyard. It's BLK with GRY leather GTA seats (trashed) I have the whole top on my 89 GTA because it was so nice and the othe parts I've stripped off the car. The trunk is rust free and the trunk spoiler is good with brake light and gasket still intact. The GTA rims are BLK and on it but one is damaged so I won't be taking those. It's a 305 TPI and I wont be taking that or the trans (auto).
When these cars are this rust free it's a no brainer

Not possible here in Maryland. Once a car makes it to a yard, it must be registered with the state. Once that car is registered, it can not be sold whole. Unfortunately.

Same here in WA, though I was tempted to cut the car in half and take it like that...
