Trunk plastics

Does the convertibles have the same style trunk plastics as a hard top/t-top car. My 92 has no side plastics, just the rear latch cover and light, but I just saw a convertible side plastic on Ebay with the cubby similar to my 91 t-top car?

Re: Trunk plastics

From what I've seen on the forum I think ASC originally started with cut plastics and later moved to these flimsy, thinly carpet...the best thing I can describe it with is a fiber'd tarp pieces that cover each quarter panel area. I have the flimsy carpet crap.

Re: Trunk plastics

There is the black carpet covering the spare and the drivers well area, it is very cheesy carpet! I wasn't sure if something was missing and the carpet was just there to cover inside the plastics. Guess not.

Glad I don't have to try and find any!

Re: Trunk plastics

I would have thought that the plastics would fit all the verts, even if it had carpet. My 89 was missing the plastics and found a set at the yard and cut them down to fit. There are several pics on here that show about how they go in. Cut em long and trim to fit.

Yep, as said above. Started live as stock pieces and cut to fit.

Re: Trunk plastics

yeah somewhere around 91 they started going with the molded carpet.
I like it better than the plastic but It does have a better finish on newer cars these days..

Re: Trunk plastics

Thanks for confirming that my carpets just need some deep cleaning, and I don't have to cut down plastics haha!

I'm gonna keep the theme on this one original, and not add anything that wasn't there from the factory. Keeping it OG haha!
