Purple Haze!

Just bought this. It's an LB9/700R4/2.73 posi. As far as I can tell it is completely rust free being a southern California car. It has 123K miles and will need a bit of TLC with cosmetics. Working on shipping.

Nice! Are you planning on keeping four, or letting one of the others go?

Someone is interested in the '83. Wish I could keep them all, but that would be tough.

I hate you.

I think I need to be more aggressive in looking for another one.

Re: Purple Haze!

We'll see what this looks like up close. This is the third car I've bought without seeing in the flesh, and the previous two were a lot rougher in person when I got them.

I think/hope the seller was completely up front with his description. I've seen a couple locally, but they were far from mint and had rust issues. On this one, the undercarriage just looks SoCal dusty - like all it needs is a good power washing.

Good looking car Chaz, good luck with it.

E-mail roy@doortodoortransport.net on shipping, tell him Chris in CT sent you. At this point I think that's acts like a coupon code with him.

Sweet car! I had a 92 Z28 hardtop Lb9 auto, same color. I would have keep it had it been a ragtop.

That's a nice car! Swap in some 3.42 gears and the N10 exhaust set up and you'll have a nice sleeper that will look stock.

I hadn't even thought about that. I was planning on bringing the '89. Maybe I'll bring both. I'm a little apprehensive about what I'll find when the car gets here, buying it sight unseen and all.

I hope you do swing by the Expo!

My feeling has always been (in cases of buying cars sight-unseen long distance) is the time & money I saved by not going to see them (airfare or mileage) can be a credit against all of the things I didn't find out about them that need to be corrected. As long as I'm at the point of expectations once that money/those issues are resolved, I'm feeling good.

If there are none, I'm really good, if there's more, a little less good.

BTW - I've bought a LOT of cars long distance and sight-unseen.

Agree! I had no problems. The car mut be well represented and all issues must be disclosed. AND..you have to have a good feeling about the deal and a little trust! You'll be fine Chazman

Re: Purple Haze!

In my driveway. Haven't seen it yet. My son says it's really dirty and tired looking.

It looked pretty good going on the trailer. What happened?? Maybe just a good detail, inside and out. Would hate to see you get rid of it, but if you make a profit, No Foul.

Re: Purple Haze!

Probably dirty from the transport. Looks like from the pics it wasn't transported in an enclosed structure. You keep your cars highly detailed so a lot of cars probably wouldn't be up to your standards in terms of asthetics lol.

Clean it up and see how it goes after that. They didn't make a lot of 1991-1992 Z28's in the first place and purple haze is a 1992 model year color only which makes it even more rare. I can count on one hand the number of purple haze Z28's I've ever seen and none of them was a convertible.

Are you going to be able to keep all the other cars you have and keep this one too? Hopefully you won't have to sell another car you have in your collection.

Filthy, but in the garage with it's brothers. This after my son hosed it off before pulling it in.

What's this going on with the steering wheel and how do I fix it?

Shouldn't there be a clear film under the top? And if so, where do I get one?

I think I'm probably going to sell the white '83. I've been driving that the past couple of days, and it drives so nice, I really hate to do it, but 4 of them is really too much for me, plus I need the space.

Re: Purple Haze!

That's a California special air bag wheel - they curl up at the corners due to the sun/UV exposure. You can try a heat gun but probably better off just picking up a nice used one locally and swapping it.

Love the color - pretty rare car!
