1991 Camaro Z28 Convertible Body Plate Location
My son and I just purchased a beautiful Red 1991 Camaro Z28 Convertible 5sp and we would like to order a Vehicle Invoice from GM Media Archive http://www.gmmediaarchive.com/?page=ordform but they are asking for information from the "Body Plate(s)" and I can't find them. This is an ASC conversation if that matters. Other sources have mentioned a lockable compartment (I assume in the trunk) but we have not been able to find one. Any help would be much appreciated.

I think they are asking you for your VIN. It is the only vehicle identifier on your car and is found in several places (VIN Plate visible through the lower windshield corner, ASC label in door jam, several anti-theft locations on body parts, and on the SPID label). You mentioned a lockable trunk compartment but it is likely you do not have one. The 91's were made with different trunk configuration and the lockable compartment was dropped. The SPID label that was positioned inside it was relocated to the car's console. Lift the lid and you should see it glued to the passenger side of the compartment. If it is not there, a previous owner probably removed it. GM archives will not need the SPID, just the VIN.

If you think there exists some issue with the VIN you can double check that VIN is correct by comparing the vin under the windshield to the vin on top of the passenger side frame rail that is directly underneath the top of the fender just lateral to the strut tower.

Thanks but I have no issue with the VIN. The company that can provide a genuine copy of the factory invoice said they needed information from the "body plate" but when I contacted them directly, they said the VIN was enough for my year car.

In the third gens, use the SPI Label instead
