ConvertiblesDiscussed here are problems and solutions to convertible specific questions, including difficult to find part numbers and other convertible tech help.
Alrights guys.... So exchanged a couple emails with Ryan at Hawk's, and the convertible light bar can be produced, however, would need a "buy-in" of at least 10 people to get the ball rolling. Price still needs to be confirmed with Bruce, but figure we could get a list going of those that would be interested.
I was thinking it was going to be like a chrome Molly 4140 type material and it was going to have map lights or interior lights in it Super Chevy or Camaro performers have a guy who did a third GEN Camaro convertible and he actually made his and sold 10 of them and never made another one so I was hoping it was this guy producing more of them

sorry have not been on the forums for awhile but I would also be interested in the lightbar put me on the list.
I wonder if there is any way to naybe reinforce it to make it more functional than just looking good.
I tried calling multiple times, left a lot of messages and couldn’t get a call back from anyone. I’m really disappointed in them as a vendor. I’d rather be told no vs. just being ignored. Terrible service.....
I did and they dont want to mess with it. R&D will be to costly for the limited demand. They said if hawks has a working design already that is the most cost effective path.
If we had a enuf people calling hawks and putting pressure on them maybe it would motivate them.
Tought about it for a while! I took my wind deflector from my 2012 Camaro and it is way too narrow for our 3rd gen... was looking after some custom fabs but it would be hard to make it look 3rd gen equipment! But IMO the light bar adds a nice final touch to the long convertible body and tonneau cover. On an opposite way, only a wind deflector wouldn't look good as newer 5th or 6th gen because of the body lines
I am still ready to hit the target for this bar in the 500$ price tag era! Back then I was tempted but had so much more important things to do with this precious 500$
Apparently someone has used a BMW deflector before, and it worked pretty well with some modification. One thing that sucks with the mod is it really interfered with the backseat, getting in and out.
I realize our backseats are practically useless, and painful when used, but It's still annoying.
Would have been great if Chevy could have eeked out a couple more inches back there....

I actually found a lightbar. I don't believe Hawk's will ever come back out with them. As long as I hunted & wanted one, my taste changed and not going to install mine. I just test fitted the bar & decided I am going to sell the car

Where did you find it? Oh, and how much are you asking for it if you are selling it? If you don't want to post a price, you can PM me if you are more comfortable that way.
I'll answer some questions tomorrow if I have some free time. I am pretty busy with my plow truck & more snow on the way. I apologize for any delay in responses.
This is when I was test fitting it to see if I was willing to make the commitment to install but decided to sell the car. It is not bolted in but I wanted to see if I was going to make some tweaks or attempt to remake some with subtle changes.
I searched for years to find one. I even went to Hawk's in SC & was willing to lay down $5000+ to see if Bruce would make 10 of them. I couldn't even get a meeting.
I jumped through some hoops and found this one out West & had to have cash in the guys hands the day I talked him out of it. Luckily I had a cousin who lived about an hour from him. It wasn't cheap but when's the last time you saw one for sale at any price? I believe Hawk's was selling them for over $500+ shipping (Fright or oversized).
I'll get with potential buyers once I get this plow truck sorted out.
.
I remember somebody here on TGO had one for sale about ten years ago for $350, but that was before I had my convertible.
I would have bought that for $350 mine isn't going to be $350 though. Heck, what's a set of OEM window louvers with hardware bringing? 10 years ago, those were about $100, possibly $200 with hardware.
To eliminate confusion, I'm probably going to be at $800 for mine. If I was still into the convertibles as much as I once was (no into hardtops, go figure), I would have gladly spent whatever the cost was because they look killer & no one is giving theirs up. I offered $1000 for one about 4 years ago. It didn't motivate the owner

800 sounds reasonable if piece is in the right condition.

I was just answering your question of when the last one popped up on TGO. Not that it was a price point, only that it was the only one I recall showing up.
