I have a 89 rs convertible camaro, i think this goes to the top or decklid

Thats the cutoff switch for the tonneau. It keeps you from popping the tonneau when the trunk is opened. Since both cannot be open simultaneously. It mounts on the power trunk pull down, there should be a black connector thereabouts the goes on that. Pic for reference.​​​​​​​

 

Also your tonneau solenoids will not work unless this plunger switch is connected.
