WTF?! Why the overheat?
I have a 160 thermostat, a 3core intercooler, a trans cooler, both my fans are grounded, the air dam is on, the radiator is clear of debris, and it still overheats. IF I run the AC it will overheat just sitting in the drive way. Plz help

maybe it is your thermo
ahoy...i have basically the same cooling setup as you do, minus the dual electric fans and im not sure about the 3 core intercooler cuz im not sure what that is. but anyway...
i just got back from a radiator specialist today. first off, check the radiator cap. heck, it might not be a bad idea to replace yours if it's old. mine was checked and turned out to be bad. believe it or not, a bad cap will make your car overheat because of pressure buildup or something like that.
second, after the cap is checked, get the stock 195 thermo and drop it in. what happens with a 160 is, the thermo stays open when the engine gets hot enough, causing coolant to flow through the engine constantly. this can't happen; because the coolant doesn't sit in the radiator long enough to cool off before it ghets set right back into the engine. hot radiator fluid as hot as the engine won't help it cool down.
try the cap and thermo and get back to me on what happens. the next step would be a radiator flushing and flow test.

well, the problem IROCZ28KevinZ is talking about is what happens when u have no thermostat at all. just having a thermostat, even when it is open slows down the coolent flow enough.. even the stock 195 stays open most of the time in summer driving when ur running around at 220*
I had the same problem until I replaced my water pump with a high flow model (mine was about to go anyway and I replaced everything else) I changed the single fan to a new one at the local market at the same time...I know it flows more, anyway no more insane temps. Very cool with ac on 95+ degree days.

I have a high flow edelbrock water pump. I let the car sit and idle for a good hour or so and i think im going to get a 180 thermostat. I got a 160 in
there now and without spending a crap load of money i think that would be the most cost efficient step to try and solve my little problem.
Also i've been convinced that my intercooler doesnt allow enough air into the radiator and it is part of the problem. There without a doubt no air pockets in the system and I got a good 50/50 mixture with a 160 stat. I'll try the thermostat this weekend.
