Bad Thermostat?
OK.... driving along.... car is running great... get closer to home... temp is rising... and rising...(turn on the heater).... and rising.... find a safe place to get off the highway, pop the hood..... and my bottome hose has a split on the end. OK... wait a bit for the fluid to cool/drain away some. Cut end of hose and put it all back together.... find some water.. put it in the over flow.... and some in the radiator. Everything is holding, start car, no leaks. Drive on, and temp is still rising... rising... rising.... till redline and i pull into a gas sation to try to figure this out (after some cussing of course).
I'm wondering if the thermostat might have been stuck in the shut position when i added the new water, other wise i'm stummped on why the darn thing is overheating. What does anyone else think?
I'm just happy this is my daily driver V6 and not my Iroc. Ugh... today's been a bad day.
Any suggestions on where to start looking would be appriciated.
