need fan suggestions...

well i guess i have to fork over some dough for a new fan for the 84 Z28 HO305 car...
the fan is single fan thats about 17" diameter and mounted in center of the radiator, height of my radiator is 19 mount to mount and width about 27 frm mount to mount.

(electric with 2 core copper radiator, stock setup all the way)

who has or knows of a good fan or fans to get that arent a million bucks ? 17" or so ? i would convert to a mechanical fan of some sorts, but there really isnt the room for a blade set in there i bet, i would build a shroud from aluminum sheets and angle pieces if i could go with mechanical blades. but only thing is that 17" is all the bigger i could use anyways and the electric fan turns wayyyyy more RPM at idle and low speed than a mechanical one, so.,,,,,, but that doesnt say that electric blades move more air than mechanical blades, id like to know more info about this if there isa any that proves if one moves more air than the other(*single center mount fan setup).

since this car doesnt seem to want to have new owner since no ne seems ot be interested in it even though has always been a very reliable car, im just gonna fix only this heat problem and then drive its wheels off til i kill it, whats the car is made for anyways, its not a show car has its little things lie all others do,, but still is a $1000 or $1200 car...

thaks guys, i need to know anything i can find out, im gonna find another radiator of same size design so i can have it re-cored locally(can have it converted to 3 core for 150 here) and pop it in right away so car wont be down for over a couple hours. if it still goes 220-240 then i wil be pissed, but im sure it wil dramtically cool the car down.
thanks for anything.,,, !

Randy

If the fan motor is shot, you can get a replacement fan motor or you can get a used stock fan from a salvage yard. If you want a new fan, the highest flowing 16" electric fan is from Perma Cool and it only costs about $84 from Summit or Jeg's.

motor works fine and comes on when it needs to and all, blades assembly is ab out to fall off the motor shaft though it seems, is very vey wobbly loose on the shaft end,, i think the case shroud deal is whats keeping blades from hitting radiator...

ideas ? wtf happene to the blades assembly ? theres no visible hardware that i can see where its loose at the motor shaft, i cant see how they sit on the shaft end

The blade assembly is held onto the shaft with a washer and nut. Just disconnect and remove the fan assembly and tighten or replace the washer and nut.
