Electric Fan Problem

A few weeks ago I wired in a manual switch to my electric fan. Anyway it worked great for about 2 weeks running at 180 to 200 degrees constantly. Then the switch broke so I replaced it with the same one. Now the fan makes the temp go up. I don't understand it. The car still runs at 180 on the highway but if i turn the fan on it picks about 5 degrees up. Then in town with stop lights the temp will rise to 220 and when i turn the fan on to cool it down it gets hotter!

Please help.

Is there anyway the fan is maybe turning the wrong way sucking hot air through the radiator.

the way you have the switch you probably need to reverse the connections... sounds like your blowing the wrong way!!!!

it would of been better to just hook a switch so when the car is on you can flip the switch a ground the relay, using the same wire as the fan switch on the block uses (tan colored)..

So are you talking about switching the connections on the switch? I think I tried it on the fan and nothing came on. Explain this relay part for me a little better.

well you can stay with what you have!! i am just saying if it was working before it should work after, so that why i think you might need to just switch the connections going to the switch.

makes no sense if it was working before and all you did was replace the switch and now it makes you temp rise!!

about the relay part that what i did to wire in a switch in my car, run a search on the boards you will find alot of help..

hey guys i pulled my computer out when i switched to carb and now my fan never comes on. i replaced the switch in the drivers side head and nuthin. it went up to 230-240 with nuthin, now i took the 2 wires off the fan (one black and the other black with a pink stripe) i took the wire with the pink stripe and held it to the battery and the fan came on and all was well. now wut i need to know is does the computer control the fan? and if so how do i wire it up so it comes on by the switch in the head or however? thanks

use that diagram above, use the circuit for the passengers side fan and use that to control your fan..

If you have a 305 with trottle body you only have one relay and one fan. So be careful with that picture or you will have some RS guys wiring up their fuel pump relays LOL
